ALL ABOUT MOONDOG

Chris Moon, a Tucson local, was the oldest child of two. He went on to be a Tucson High School graduate who sacrificed his life while serving our country in Afghanistan.
Chris was a naturally gifted athlete growing up and became an outstanding baseball player. He was drafted out of high school by
the Atlanta Braves but instead, chose to accept a scholarship to
play baseball at the University of Arizona.
He worked out and played with the Wildcats during the fall season
of his Freshman year. At the start of the second semester, Chris decided to pursue what had always been a dream of his, to serve
our country.
Chris enlisted in the US Army. Chris served several tours of duty and was credited with several successful missions until he was injured
by an IED, just weeks before his scheduled return home to the
United States. Chris was flown to the US Army Medical Center at Landstuhl, Germany but succumbed to his injuries on July 13, 2010.

CHRIS' IMPACT ON OTHERS

LANDYN LEWIS
Chris was like a second older brother to me growing up, he and my brother Tyrrell were best friends and I did my best to tag along with them for everything they did. I looked up to Chris as a person, athlete and for his selflessness.

MARSHA & BRIAN MOON
We are the proud parents of Christopher Moon. To share his young legacy with the Tucson community and beyond speaks volume of his life and character. Chris’ service to country and sacrifice will forever be remembered. We hope that Chris’ legacy through the foundation will inspire, motivate and empower others to dream big and be successful.

CHRIS RUSH
To me he was a younger brother. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to have by my side in combat. The things he accomplished by the age of 20 is amazing. His ability to adapt to different environments, excel during any situation and help fellow comrades is what made him stand out as a person.

AARON TAPIA
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know Chris, elementary school, little league, pony, high school. Growing up I was either at his house or he was at mine. We were always staying busy, at the park to play catch or testing out our hunting skills with BB guns. I am proud to have known Chris most of his life and proud to have served in the army with him. I look forward to doing all I can to continue his legacy with the Chris Moon Foundation and its continued service to those who take on the challenge in following his example.

DEREK STOJOHANN
One of the most meaningful memories of Chris Moon was in Afghanistan. He had just returned from mid-tour leave and I was coming back from a mission to resupply. I was so excited to see Chris and catch up only to find out they moved him to the operations post. So, I went into our leadership's tent to call him up on the radio. We caught up and expressed how much we missed each other. It was a bold show of affection considering the other men in the tent, so this meant a lot. I was just happy to hear my best friend's voice and to know that he was ok.
You can help keep Chris Moon’s spirit alive in the Tucson community. By supporting the Chris Moon Foundation, you’re helping provide scholarships to Southern Arizona high school students, funding youth sports programs, and offering assistance to military and Gold Star families.
